Golden Gate Bridge, early in the morning

Really, when you actually look at it, it is pretty darned small...

And it isn't gold at all. A painter would know it as orange vermillion, but most of us know it as international orange. If you are a graphic designer that would be PMS-173.   Hexadecimal (web): cf4520.   r.g.b.: 207,69,32.

Originally it was supposed to be grey, black, and silver; but the consulting architect, Irving Morrow, persuaded bridge officials to use the same color as the primer (orange-red) for the top-coat. The result blended in with the surroundings while being highly visible from the water and through the fog.

It takes 47,000 gallons to completely paint the Golden Gate Bridge.
